AI-Generated Recruiting Outreach and Applications Are Flooding Both Sides of the Market
AI is lowering the cost of outbound activity for recruiters and candidates, according to the CEO of Jack and Jill. Recruiter tools identify potential fits and send AI-generated messages, while candidate tools can submit applications at large scale, creating what the company describes as low-signal noise on both sides.
The CEO said the average role posted in 2026 received more than twice as many applications as in the previous year, primarily because applying became easier. The comparison was not independently substantiated in the source, and its denominator was not specified. The company also says some employers are avoiding job postings because of an avalanche of AI-generated applications.
Jack and Jill’s proposed response is to use agents to represent candidates and companies, survey opportunities, and identify higher-signal mutual matches. Jack currently supports compensation benchmarking and negotiation practice; the CEO said agents could eventually negotiate compensation packages directly, while emphasizing that the biggest impact would come from filtering opportunities at the top of the funnel.
