Personal AI agents could become consumer-first interfaces
Personal AI agents are framed as a potentially large category that represents users’ interests rather than those of a company, product or predetermined viewpoint. ChatGPT is described as already functioning like a browser: a single interface that can replace moving among 20 websites or Chrome tabs for research and product questions.
The consumer-aligned approach could conflict with platforms such as Amazon, whose existing businesses may be threatened by agents that mediate navigation and shopping. A personal AI could also protect users from marketing pressure and biased reviews, including reviews influenced by undisclosed promotion.
