Amazon cuts off Meta’s Muse from shopping on Amazon.com

Amazon said it cut off Meta’s Muse personal AI agent from shopping on Amazon.com on customers’ behalf after unsuccessfully asking Meta to exclude the site. Amazon said it had not authorized Muse to access its store, that the agent did not identify itself while browsing, and that it appeared to capture and store customer credentials, creating privacy and security risks.

As of Sunday night, users trying to shop with Muse saw a message calling it an “unauthorized AI agent” and citing Amazon’s conditions of use. The dispute highlights the conflict between retailer-controlled shopping agents—such as Amazon’s Rufus—and independent agents that browse or transact for users.
