NeoClouds face labor shortages and are building training pipelines

Labor shortages span NeoCloud infrastructure, from SREs to electricians, data-center technicians and operators. Some SREs with million-dollar salaries and substantial equity have gone on to start NeoClouds, with some succeeding. Electrician salaries in Louisiana, Abilene, Texas, and other tracked locations were reported to be up three to five times. Crusoe was described as short of workers and needing to train them.

The most successful NeoClouds are building pipelines to bring in talent from related fields for management and day-to-day operations—for example, moving software engineers into SRE roles and front-end specialists into back-end performance work. Cross-training is also taking place among workers doing hands-on jobs such as electrical work.
