Host forecasts space-computing tests in 2027 and possible capacity online in 2028
Discussing Elon Musk’s idea of data centers in space, a host speculated that initial computing tests could take place in 2027 and some capacity could come online in 2028. He stressed that this was not a story for the next six months. The host connected the plans to SpaceX’s integration with Starlink and said Starship was being built with that system in mind. Separately, he said SpaceX would attempt to catch the returning Starship on its next launch using Mechazilla, the mechanism with the catching “chopsticks.” These were described as anticipated actions and a forecast, not as an existing space-computing capability.
