Anthropic growth debate: $100 billion expectations meet the revenue math

The hosts discussed expectations for Anthropic’s revenue and how difficult it is to sustain exponential growth. The public discussion cited a progression of roughly $100 million, $1 billion and $10 billion in revenue. One host clarified that the next reported step was from $1 billion to $9 billion—a 9x increase, not 10x—and said that reaching $100 billion from $9 billion would represent acceleration, not deceleration. At the same time, expectations of $100 billion or even $150 billion raise a bar that is difficult for a company to clear.

One host speculated that revenue could finish around $80 billion if the slowdown from $1 billion to $9 billion were extrapolated. He also argued that competitors and major technology companies in frontier AI could form alliances or make deals with other labs to prevent one leader from achieving a monopoly. This was the host’s analysis and speculation, not a confirmed plan by Anthropic or other companies. He noted that Investor Day is not the IPO itself but could be a precursor; in his view, labs may disclose less exciting figures ahead of a period of accelerating growth and a public listing.
