User Says He Used Codex to Disable Tracking Features on a Samsung TV
The hosts discussed a video by Jake Stevens, who said he used Codex to disable a number of tracking and data-collection functions on a Samsung TV. As the hosts recounted it, these included frequent screenshots to identify viewed content, reading HDMI inputs, and the Bixby wake-word detector. Stevens also claimed the TV ran three times faster after the changes; the hosts showed a before-and-after speed comparison.
Participants welcomed the ability to remove unwanted features but said the process might still be difficult for an ordinary user to reproduce. One host hoped that simpler, shared instructions would emerge and stressed that he would want to retain HDMI-CEC, which lets a connected device turn the TV on or off. The tracking and performance claims are based on Stevens’s account as presented on the show.
