Plant Switch says it has fully integrated production of a plant-based alternative to plastic

Dylan Baxter, Plant Switch co-founder and CEO, said the company, founded in 2020, developed a material that feels and functions like plastic but biodegrades like plant matter. Baxter said it breaks down naturally without microplastics; he added that it could be discarded in the ocean or a backyard, although the company does not recommend doing so.

According to Baxter, Plant Switch set up a fully vertically integrated production site covering the process from raw material to finished goods. He described the company as the only one currently using this approach for a whole portfolio of products. The hosts also introduced Baxter as the founder of a company raising a Series B to expand Compost Zero into paper and coffee cups.
