Thrive Capital expands public-market strategy with $250 million Amazon stake

Thrive Capital invested $250 million in Amazon, according to a securities filing, as the firm expands its public-market strategy toward major companies benefiting from AI.

At the end of the second quarter, Thrive held $3.2 billion of SpaceX stock and $250 million of Amazon. Its public portfolio also included Oscar Health, Shopify and Figma, while positions in Carvana and StubHub had been reduced.

It was suggested, without confirmation, that part of the strategy may have resulted from shifting a SpaceX position accumulated before an IPO into the public portfolio.
