Pioneer Labs expects versions of five Mars organisms by around 2029

Pioneer Labs says it took about two years to make its first organism for Mars and that five organisms are needed to make a livable area there at scale. It expects to have some version of all five by the end of the next three years, around 2029.

A 2028 launch window could offer an opportunity to search for life and test growing an Earth organism, the company said. It said a demonstration on Mars might be possible in the next window, in early 2031. It also predicted SpaceX would try to reach Mars in 2028 and might succeed in 2031.
