Seaglider is designed around vessel certification and boat-style controls

Seaglider’s developers say the vehicle is being certified under U.S. Coast Guard jurisdiction as a vessel rather than an aircraft. They argue that this approach addresses some of the barriers to recreational aviation, where pilot training, airspace procedures and battery range are significant constraints.

The vehicle uses digital flight controls that reduce operation to familiar boat inputs: left and right, faster and slower. The company says this could make Seaglider accessible to a broader group of users, although the evidence does not specify certification status, operating routes or commercialization dates.

The developers also emphasize a high safety standard for high-speed travel with people on board. They criticized loosely controlled passenger-drone demonstrations after an unoccupied drone fell during an air show, saying such incidents could harm the broader aerospace industry.
