Turo is launching a Tesla API integration to verify FSD rental cars
Turo CEO Andre Haddad said the company is launching a new section of its app on Wednesday featuring Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles with active Full Self-Driving (FSD). A direct integration with Tesla’s API checks vehicle eligibility and FSD status. Turo plans to check again at the start of a trip to confirm FSD is enabled and the subscription is paid and current. Hosts with eligible Teslas but no active FSD subscription will be offered a one-month free trial.
Haddad said the Model 3 and Model Y are respectively the fourth- and third-most-rented cars on Turo; he tentatively identified the BMW 3 Series and Toyota Prius as the first and second. He also said Turo already integrates EV charging: trip charges are automatically billed to the guest through the host’s account. The company expects verified FSD availability to make the rental experience clearer for hosts and guests.
