Marc Benioff raises Salesforce–Slack rebranding question for the AI era

Marc Benioff raised whether Salesforce should rebrand as “Salesforce Slack” to emphasize Slack’s role in AI-era bots and coding. A cited poll showed 68% voting against the name; alternatives included “Slackforce,” “Force” and “force.com.” It remains unclear whether the idea is a serious rebranding plan or a marketing experiment.

Slack’s current revenue was estimated at roughly $2–2.5 billion, while Salesforce’s total revenue was described as exceeding $40 billion. The branding exploration therefore comes as Salesforce considers how prominently Slack should feature in its overall identity.

Salesforce was characterized as an iconic brand in need of revitalization. Its use of Matthew McConaughey and MrBeast in advertising was viewed as weakly connected to enterprise-software buyers, while a younger “Zoomer” actor was suggested as a possible alternative. One prediction is that people who begin their careers with Slack may later bring it—and potentially Salesforce—into companies they create.
