Pulley to shut down on December 8, 2026 and transition customers to Carta

Pulley, a cap-table management software provider, will cease all operations and services on December 8, 2026. The company has entered into an exclusive partnership with Carta, which will help transition Pulley’s customers but is not acquiring the company.

The exact reason for the shutdown was not established. Pulley’s last funding round was described as having taken place in 2022 at approximately $20 million, although the round designation and funding details were uncertain; the company had reportedly gone nearly four years without raising money.

Pulley positioned itself as a lower-cost alternative to Carta, but its product faced Carta’s established legal workflows and market position. Some companies had chosen Pulley because they were concerned about Carta operating a secondary market on top of their cap table. The partnership could potentially precede an acquisition, but no purchase has been announced.
