A $2.5 trillion tech-stock rout gives way to a Nasdaq rebound

The hosts said the US market lost $2.5 trillion in the previous session, its worst day since June 5, 2026, as technology stocks fell about 5%. They cited earlier large losses of $1.87 trillion on June 5, 2026, $1.74 trillion on April 3, 2025, and $1.58 trillion the following day. The next day, the Nasdaq rose 1.38; Apple, they said, gained 10% after earnings and was up 67% over five days. The hosts described Apple as a $131 billion company. Discussing the sell-off, one host suggested the market might have reacted with a delay to the US midterm results and news from Texas: stocks rose Wednesday, while the selling came Thursday. He said semiconductors and AI-related companies were hit harder, while large cloud companies might be more resilient because they already had data centers and other businesses. The explanation and short-term market assessment were presented as the hosts’ interpretation, not as an established cause or forecast.
