An AI company describes different compute needs and scaling strain

An unnamed AI company said its compute needs are very different from those of other labs because it is taking a different technical approach. Its representative said it had raised less than $40 million about a year and a half earlier, adding that this would not be enough to obtain what he called “Neo Lab” compute or to build a profitable AI company.

He said the company’s bottleneck changes every day, describing this as a growing pain of scaling. The system, he added, was not designed for the company’s current rate of growth, making infrastructure a constant challenge.
