Critics describe low-quality AI-generated pages as relying on thin lines, glowing styles, inconsistent fonts and heavy use of monospace text. Such pages may prompt users to leave before judging the product itself, while the visual finish is treated as a signal of how much care went into the rest of the product.

AI can quickly implement a unique design, but one-shot generation is viewed as low-effort. AI-designed pages may work best when their artificiality, interactivity or impossibility in the real world is part of the concept. A Berkshire clone was described as likely to perform well, although its effectiveness was not confirmed; it was also simple enough to hand-code in about five minutes. One opinion held that, depending on the audience, ugly sites perform better 99% of the time.
