Lawyer says AI does not replace independent professional judgment

Asked whether clients might become overconfident after using AI, the lawyer said he has long dealt with clients who believe they know the law better than he does. In his view, people should not choose their own legal arguments or medical procedures: personal involvement can undermine sound judgment, making professional expertise and emotional independence important. He said he has offered clients who wanted to represent themselves the chance to deliver their own opening argument while he watched; he said that usually changed their minds.
