Rainmaker reports hyperscaler deal for cloud-seeding water offsets

Rainmaker says it has closed one deal with a hyperscaler and is negotiating with multiple others on engineering feasibility for arrangements that would offset their water consumption by producing more water for the American interior.

The company’s statement comes amid debate over data-center water use: American agriculture and municipal consumption are orders of magnitude higher, but data centers still consume water, which Rainmaker says matters in the American West’s supply shortages.
