Cloud phone farms may offer a legitimate use for long-duration app testing

Large numbers of phones hosted in the cloud can be used to run an application across many different devices for extended periods. For example, Instagram could use such infrastructure to look for memory leaks.

Testing and quality assurance were identified as the only clearly viable positive use for this type of infrastructure, although it remains uncertain whether other useful applications exist.
