Warhound is coming out of stealth with plans to genetically engineer dogs for military and law enforcement
On the podcast, Warhound was described as a company coming out of stealth and working to genetically engineer dogs for military and law-enforcement use. A host associated the project with Ben Lamb, who had worked on de-extinction at Colossal Biosciences, and said Palmer Luckey was apparently advising the company. The host stressed that it was not strictly an Anduril product, although Anduril might provide armor and take part in development.
In a recording of a 2023 talk, a speaker discussed possible military applications of bioengineering, ranging from robots with biological components to large animals with enhanced traits. These were presented as ideas and hypotheticals, not as existing Warhound developments.
The podcast participants also discussed market estimates. One host relayed a post on X that cited a $200 million investment at a $1.2 billion valuation and a $50 million annual breeder-revenue market for police and military customers. These figures were relayed in the discussion, not confirmed there as Warhound financing terms. The hosts speculated that the market could be much larger if other genetically engineered animals had commercial applications.
