Chip startups build cloud infrastructure alongside their chips

Cerebras has become a NeoCloud, while Groq is buying NVIDIA GPUs to launch one; SambaNova is also building its own infrastructure. OpenAI is mentioned in connection with self-build sites. The effort adds data-center construction and operations to companies’ challenges of securing chip and memory supply, including allocations from TSMC and memory providers.

The analysis is that building these capabilities in-house could improve margins by reducing reliance on intermediaries. AWS’s Trainium and Google’s TPU are cited as examples of end-to-end infrastructure integration.
