Nearly $1 million in collectible cards stolen from a FedEx truck outside PSA headquarters

On October 13, a FedEx truck left unattended for 60–90 minutes was broken into outside PSA’s grading center in Santa Ana, California. Three pallets containing 250 packages of cards already graded by PSA were stolen. The first two pallets are estimated to be worth about $963,000; the value of the third is still being determined. The broadcast earlier described the total value of the stolen cards as nearly $1 million.

PSA cards have unique certification numbers, and the company deactivated the numbers for the stolen cards. That may make resale harder, although the host speculated that the theft could still create an incentive to sell them on the black market. According to the host, PSA is working out compensation for affected customers based on the cards’ fair market value, with payouts capped at the insurance limits customers selected when placing their orders.

The hosts discussed the risks of shipping especially valuable items. One argued that PSA should fully insure such shipments and use a specialized carrier such as Brinks; another said risks may also come from insiders or third-party carriers. These were participants’ opinions, not established facts about the theft. The broadcast also cited a $500,000 valuation for a One Piece card, Roronoa Zoro PSA 10, Pop 12, but did not establish that this was a confirmed sale price.
