Qualcomm sees smartphone AI running on-device and in the cloud

At the Snapdragon Summit, Qualcomm said it was announcing its latest flagship smartphone processor and described smartphones’ shift toward becoming AI devices as already beginning. The company said it had previously demonstrated a multi-billion-parameter model running on-device.

Qualcomm argued that asking whether AI should run on the device or in the cloud is the wrong question: apps will use both, with the split intended to be transparent to users.
