Proposed 21-Landing Route Could Visit All 50 U.S. States

A proposed route would visit all 50 U.S. states by landing at state-border intersections, including locations where four states meet. The estimate is 21 landings for all 50 states and 19 for the contiguous 48; completing the route within 24 hours was described as possible, but the exact optimal time and route remain unconfirmed.

The plan would require an aircraft combining high speed with the ability to use short or dirt runways. The Pilatus PC-24 was presented as a more realistic option than the slower PC-12, while Gulfstream-class speed was also raised. Many border points are tourist sites or contain trees and other obstacles, creating serious practical and legal risks; an improvised landing could result in the pilot being detained or arrested.
