Jay Leno questions the idea of a new supercar “Holy Trinity”
Asked about a possible new “Holy Trinity” of supercars—the McLaren W1, Ferrari F80 and a car referred to in the conversation as the Mission S—Jay Leno said he does not really buy into the category. In his view, such labels help sell magazines and give audiences a reason to take sides. He pointed to the rapid pace of automotive progress: a standard Porsche 911 GT3, he said, is now faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder. Leno added that the benchmark car changes from generation to generation; the Shelby Cobra 427 was his standard bearer when he was young, and Aston Martins had held that position earlier.
