Mac Minis and Mac Studios emerge as infrastructure for AI agents
AI labs have reportedly been buying or renting tens of thousands of Apple Mac Minis for server deployments. OpenAI reportedly bought tens of thousands of Mac Minis and Mac Studios for reinforcement learning and training computer-use agents, while Anthropic rents Mac Minis through AWS.
Coding agents are also being tested in games: Codex reportedly played Balatro but was slow and may not have completed the full game, while a demonstration of an agent beating Slay the Spire was described as impressive. Lower latency remains a goal.
